Painting with Intention
My paintings always start with marks on the canvas, words which can be blessings, prayers, intentions, things that I cannot explain with words. I show with paint and texture.
I am constantly searching for meaning in life as I create. I want to listen to the space between the notes and the pause between the breaths. I want to tell the stories that bind us together, the beauty of our likeness and not the mask we hide behind. I want to paint the stories that make our hearts sing and make our tears taste of faith as we realize that we are all connected with common threads of DNA.
Spirit
In my paintings I attempt to capture the energy of our humanity, where we can connect our spirits through art inspired by the universality of all races to show that we are much more alike than different. I am deeply drawn to the power of color, textures and shape. Spirit shapes the narrative, my part is to listen. I am always on the look out for the presence of wonder.
Breathe
We breathe in Godʼs creativity, breath out the fear of trying, breathe in the joy of painting, breathe out onto a blank canvas, breathe in the love of being positive, breathe out negativity. Some artist when asked the most wonderful part of painting, respond with AWE.
