– Frequently Asked Questions –
How can the 12PCX HOTAS pilot any aircraft type and autopilot system?
Answer: The 12PCX HOTAS has transmitter functionality, controls and software that generates a PPM Out signal to any PPM pass through radio module like TBS Crossfire™, DragonLink™ and RFD radios. These radio modules have a matched receiver that is installed on the aircraft. Through the 12PCX HOTAS you can control the receiver which in-turns controls the aircraft and autopilot systems.
The 12PCX HOTAS also can output a digital serial signal so you can transmit all GCS controls and function through digital radios like Microhard and Silvus.
Can the 12PCX HOTAS operate any aircraft type?
Answer: The 12PCX HOTAS can operate any vehicle so as long as the vehicle can take a radio frequency receiver or a digital radio. It can operate fixed-wing, multi-rotor aircrafts and whatever you can dream!
How do I assign channels and functions to the GCS controls?
Answer: The Desert Rotor team created a revolutionary GCS interface called GCS Smart View™. The GCS menu and settings is a video overlay on one of the displays. A fully interactive platform allows you to have total control over each channel and component.
What else can the GCS Smart View™ interface do ?
Answer: The easy to use interface allows you to have all the functions you are use to having when using RC transmitters. There is model memory, control surface rates, expo, trim and countless other features that empower your unmanned aircraft platform.
Is my existing hardware compatible ?
Answer: The Desert Rotor team designed the GCS platform to be as compatible as possible to existing and future unmanned technology. All of the internal connectors, cables and major components can be configured and interfaced with unlimited off-the-shelf unmanned technology currently and upcoming. We also designed the system to easily upgrade each and every component of the system.
The perfect out of the box GCS platform for quick integration.
Is it easier to fly with the HOTAS (Hands On Throttle And Stick) layout?
Answer: You bet! It’s dramatically easier and the natural, correct way to pilot. The layout is used in defense, full scale aircraft and gaming. The handheld RC transmitter with the two thumbstick layout is archaic and designed over 40 years ago and not for modern unmanned aircrafts.
